OVERVIEW
Peniel Residential Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center is a community-based program
that offers help to both men and women, eighteen years of age and older who
are suffering from the effects of substance abuse.
Through the use of an individualized treatment plan, each client has
his or her needs addressed on a personal level for the length of their
treatment, which is between twelve and eighteen months long.
The aim and driving force behind the Peniel program is to help the
abusers overcome their addictions and learn how to live effective and
productive lives as contributing members of their communities.
Currently, Peniel is able to accommodate 42 clients in the male and
female population. However, upon the completion of construction, the
dormitory will have the potential to house 65 people. For those enrolled
in the program, they live in a beautiful, spacious dorm, which is located
in the West Taylor Township of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
In order to be admitted to Peniel, a person may contact the program
independently. Regardless of the avenue taken, Peniel will give final
approval during the applicant’s "on-site" interview.
Peniel serves all approved individuals regardless of race, color, creed
or religious affiliation.
An applicant must demonstrate his or her interest and the desire to
seek treatment either by telephone or by a letter requesting
admission into the program. Their name is placed on a roster and the
applicant
receives an admissions packet explaining the program and
is given a tentative admission date, which can range from 30 to 120
days.
An applicant who fails to exhibit an ongoing interest (at least by
telephone contact) through the waiting period is removed from the waiting
list. Exceptions are made for situations wherein the perspective client
is precluded from doing so.
An applicant may reactivate his or her admission status by means of
written or telephone communication to Peniel. Applicants must be in
good physical and mental health.
